ATTITUDES OF STUDENTS IN A MEDICAL SCHOOL TOWARDS GENDER ROLES

The purpose of this study was to determine the attitudes medical students towards gender roles. A cross-sectional conducted. enrolled voluntary from 1st and 6th grades school in University. Out 764 population, results for 518 could be analyzed. Beyond socio-demographic characteristics, students’ awareness roles measured using 38-item Gender Roles Attitude Scale (GRAS). mean age 21.68±3.04 years. GRAS score were 113.45±7.36. highest subscales belonged “egalitarian roles” (33.74±5.78), lowest “male (12.26±4.51). Females had significantly higher total scores than males. On other hand, first-grade statistically those grade six correlated with (r –0.23, p<0.001). Multiple linear regression done investigate effects age, female sex, being first on scores, where (t=-1.895; p=0.059) sex (t=6.170; p<0.001) revealed significant. role perceptions society can changed a positive way parent education. Among subjects undergraduate education, concept needs emphasized more. Raising conscious graduates terms contribute reducing health inequalities caused by gender.
